Community’s Last Supper?

I unabashedly love Community. The first three seasons were some of my most favourite television ever. I own the box sets. I watch them repeatedly on Netflix.  I am very aware that I may have a problem.

I have mixed feelings regarding the fourth season. After Dan Harmon’s departure, the show seemed to really struggle to find its voice. The first handful of episodes were almost painful to watch.  The new show-runners appeared to try a little too hard to capture the tone of the previous seasons and it just felt forced.

I continued watching mostly because Community has one of the best comedic casts on television. Period. And even if the material wasn’t exactly hitting the high points from the previous seasons, they were still worth watching.

However, the last few episodes were actually, surprisingly, pretty good. And good enough that I actually kinda want to see where they are going to go with the show.

Hopefully, tonight’s episode won’t be the end of the Greendale 7 (or, um, I guess the Greendale 6 now that Chevy Chase has officially left the show).  I will be watching with buttered noodles and vodka on the rocks.

Denny’s Baconalia

Or, The First Time I ever ate at a Denny’s Sober

Having time to kill before catching Iron Man Three (which is pretty damn awesome, you should see it, and Shane Black needs to write and direct more movies thank you), we grabbed lunch at Denny’s.

“Grabbing Lunch at Denny’s” is a pretty new experience for me to be honest. In the past, the only times I’ve ever really darkened the doorstep of the bright yellow franchise was late at night/early morning after a substantial quantity of alcohol was drunk.  Denny’s, to me, was a fluorescently lit landscape of sallow, pale faced customers and sad waitresses, seen through a slowly diminishing haze of alcoholic stupor.

Yay words.

So, lunch.  We saw this sign and decided that this was going to be way to go:

Bogy’s Wall of Fame Challenge Burger

Bogy's Wall of Fame Challenge Burger

Bogy’s Wall of Fame Challenge Burger

Also known as:

the Biggest Burger I Ever Attempted to Fit in My Mouth

Bogy’s Gastropub is a pretty decent place to grab a beer after work or golf (it’s connected to the Sunrise Executive Golf Course in Cloverdale). Awesome during the spring and summer as they have a big old patio to drink and gorge.

However, it will always have a special place in my heart as the home of the Biggest Burger I Ever Attempted to Fit in My Mouth.  Yes, it is bigger than the 2lb Two Parrot Burger and Way Way bigger than the Quadruple Bypass Burger from the Heart Attack Grill.

Street Eats- The Daily Catch

The Daily Catch

The Daily Catch is a pretty swell fish shop on Commercial Drive. They opened last year and have been the go to spot for picking up fresh sustainable ocean critters in East Van.  They also have a food truck that tends to be parked outside their shop (apparently, they were planning on being parked at Grandview Park, but there were some issues. Hopefully, those issues could be resolved soon-ish, as the park would probably be a better location for them).

As for the food:
